Haunted Hearts by Suzana Thompson

Salem is a town known for its connection to witches, warlocks, and magic. To Hazel and most people in the town, they were merely folk tales. Except it’s not. It all escalates and uncovers the day she was supposed to die. Luckily, she didn’t have fate on her side, or Devon. Everything changes when her mother shares her psychic childhood experience. Her curiosity grows. The man in her dreams, as well as Devon, aren’t giving her a piece of mind as well as knowledge of her psychic powers. Will she be able to uncover the mystery behind the man in her dreams? What happens to her connection with Devon? Will they let it take its course, or will they resist it?

Haunted Hearts, the book’s name, is a lovely wordplay. It shows the charged attraction between Hazel and Devon that they are keen on ignoring. It also shows the man in the dream who haunts them both. It also shows how they struggle with losing people in their lives. Suzana Thompson, the author, does a great job pacing the book. It doesn’t feel rushed or lagged. The characters’ dialogue shows their growth even when their actions don’t. Devon’s character changes from warm to cold each time, but she grows on him from their conversation.

I loved reading this book. My curiosity was high throughout the book. It ends on a cliffhanger. I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. This is only because I could predict where it was going. It was highly entertaining, and the characters were well-portrayed as well.

I would recommend it to romance lovers. The fire between Hazel and Devon was intense; even I could feel it through the texts. Supernatural and mystery lovers would also enjoy reading this book.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
