The Black Hole Pastrami And Other Stories by Feingold, Jeffrey

The Black Hole Pastrami and Other Stories is a captivating collection of narratives that the author shares from his diverse and often poignant life experiences. The stories alternate between various encounters he has had with family, friends, and strangers, painting a vivid tapestry of human connection. Each story unfolds with its own unique flavor, reflecting the complexities of relationships and the profound moments that shape our existence. The book is rich not only because it holds recurring themes such as love, family, and loss, but also because it serves as a vessel for cultural legacies and the nuanced history that underpins everyday life. Jeffrey Feingold’s writing is delivered in the first person, allowing readers to become intimately engaged with his thoughts and feelings. This personal touch makes the book feel more like a memoir than a traditional collection of stories, drawing readers into a heartfelt exploration of identity, belonging, and the indelible marks left by those we encounter along our journey. Through his insightful prose, Feingold invites us to reflect on our own experiences and the stories that connect us all.

This book, though infused with humorous events, leads the reader to self-reflect on moments in their own lives. To say the least, it is inspiring. The author writes, ” I’ve been writing stories. Stories about leaves from my family tree—from her tree. So that she may, however indirectly, get to know those who came before her.”

This made the book even better. The realization that in reality this book is a dedication to his daughter was pure gold. I enjoyed reading this collection of stories too much.
